Skipper Carlos Edwards says he’d love to extend his time at Town beyond the end of his current contract in the summer.
The 35-year-old’s opportunities have been limited this season and he made only his eighth start of the campaign in last week’s 1-1 FA Cup draw with Preston.
Speaking in an interview in Saturday’s match programme, Edwards said: "My contract is up at the end of the season and at the moment, I don’t know what will happen for next year.
"I haven’t spoken to the gaffer about it yet. The most important thing is that we carry on picking up points and stay in the play-off places.
"I’m sure he will talk to me when he feels the time is right. It’s his decision but of course, I’d love to stay here. If I was offered the chance to stay another year here, I’d love it.
"I’ve really enjoyed my career at Ipswich. It’s a great club with a lot of good people here. I feel fit and my legs don’t feel any different to previous years so I certainly want to play on for at least another year, maybe longer.”
Edwards joined the club in the summer of 2009 when the Blues, then managed by his former Sunderland boss Roy Keane, paid the Wearsiders a fee of £1.35 million.
