Dozzell Gets England Call - Ipswich Town News

Academy schoolboy Andre Dozzell has been called up to an England U15s training camp being held at the FA’s National Football Centre at St George’s Park next week.

The three-day camp, which starts next Friday, is for players who have been identified as potential squad members for next year’s Victory Shield, the annual home nations U16s tournament which is shown live on Sky Sports in October and November.

The 14-year-old midfielder’s father, ex-Blue Jason, told TWTD: "We’re very proud of him, he’s got a lot to work on but this is a start and he’s got to work hard at it.

"You see a lot of players representing England at U16 level but very few go on to make it really big. Just because you’re called up at that level doesn’t mean you’ll go on and make it, it doesn’t work like that.

"But it’s great for him, it’s an opportunity to go up and see where his level is training alongside boys from Manchester United and clubs like that.”

Dozzell junior has already represented Town’s U18s and has agreed to join the academy on a full-time scholarship when he leaves school.
