Blues Amongst Clubs Linked With Brayford - Ipswich Town News
Town are reported to be amongst a host of clubs showing interest in recruiting Cardiff City right-back John Brayford on loan during the January transfer window. AFC Bournemouth, Blackpool and Sheffield United have also been linked with the 26-year-old former Derby man.
Stoke-born Brayford started his career with Burton Albion, during which time he won England C caps, then moved on to Crewe Alexandra before his old Brewers boss Nigel Clough took him to Pride Park in the summer of 2010.
Last June, 6ft tall Brayford, who has also played at the centre of the defence and at left-back, joined Cardiff for £1.5 million but he has made only two Capital One Cup appearances since joining the Bluebirds and was reportedly close to rejoining the Rams on loan in September.
Town boss Mick McCarthy is keen to add to his defensive options during the transfer window and a move for an experienced right-back such as Brayford would be no surprise.
Elsewhere, former Blues loanee DJ Campbell has joined Saturday's opponents Millwall on loan from Blackburn.
Meanwhile, a Town U17 side lost 3-1 to Colchester in a friendly on a local school's 4G Astroturf pitch on Saturday, the scheduled academy league games having been called off.

Blackburn Rovers 1-0 Ipswich Town - Match AbandonedTown look set to face a return trip to Blackburn Rovers later in the season after this afternoon’s game was abandoned after 80 minutes due to a waterlogged pitch with the home side 1-0 up and with the Blues down to 10 men. Jacob Greaves was shown a straight red card four minutes after the break for hauling down Yuki Ohashi, then Rovers skipper Todd Cantwell netted a penalty on 59, but the heavy rain had made the game increasingly farcical the longer it progressed and in the 80th minute referee Stephen Martin took the players off and then 25 minutes later abandoned it entirely.
