Burley On Management Stress - Ipswich Town News
Town boss George Burley says his love for his job and keeping fit helps him cope with the stresses and strains of football management. An ITV documentary tested Dave Bassett and Sam Allaryce during a game yesterday and measured big rises in heart rate and blood pressure from both managers.
Burley, a regular tennis player, said: "I don't think my job is any more stressful than many other walks of life. Being manager of Ipswich is something I love and this enjoyment can only be beneficial. I try not to get too high or too low and this job has had no effect on my health. And I am confident it won't. Since I joined Ipswich as an apprecntice when I was 15 I have kept fit. I still get involved in training sessions most days, and also pay special attention to myself. I have no trouble handling pressure and try to lead as normal a life as possible."
