Croft Off to Wigan? - Ipswich Town News
TWTD has learnt that Gary Croft is the latest player to become a loan target for a lower division side. We're told that Croft, recently rumoured to be on his way back to Grimsby, is being targeted by Second Division Wigan Athletic who have a number of defenders unavailable at the present time.
Croft, 27, is well out of the picture at Portman Road after an injury—ravaged season last year and an August groin operation this time around. George Burley recently admitted that he would be willing to let some of his fringe players out on loan and Croft has expressed a desire have a spell at another club. Last week Rotherham came in for Richard Naylor, but the Town striker decided he didn't fancy a spell with the Millers.
Wigan are short of defenders currently with ex-Norwich skipper Matt Jackson out with a dislocated knee, captain Arjan De Zeeuw struggling with a hamstring strain while Jason De Vos is captain of the Canadian side who are about to compete in the Gold Cup in America.
