Burley on Loan Bids - Ipswich Town News

George Burley has commented on the attempts by Norwich and AFC Bournemouth to take Town players on loan. The Canaries were interested in Wayne Brown while Bournemouth have twice come in for Darren Bent.

Burley said: "We are getting loan requests all the while for our players. We will decide whether to let anybody go."

The Town boss feels that a loan is not necessary for Bent's progress to continue at present: "Darren is a 17-year-old who is progressing well with us. We will keep an eye on the situation but at the moment we don't want him to go on loan."

Norwich's bid for Brown was turned down, although we understand the matter was put to the player. City boss Nigel Worthington was displeased his request was denied: "I asked George Burley about Wayne and am disappointed that he turned my request down."

Meanwhile George Burley says that Amir Karic's agent is busying himself searching for a new club for the Slovenian: "Amir's agent is working hard on getting him fixed up with a new club. We will listen to any offers for him."

Karic is in the squad for this evening's reserve game against Chalrton at Portman Road (KO 7pm).
