Town Confirm Croft Loan - Ipswich Town News

Town have confirmed last night's TWTD story which reported that Gary Croft is to go on loan to Wigan Athletic. Croft is a long way down the pecking order at Portman Road and expressed a desire to serve a spell at another club to get first team football.

Town manager George Burley sees this as an opportunity for Croft to get himself back to the top of his game after injuries and a summer operation: "This move will only be good for the player, Gary has not featured in the first team this season but has looked solid in the reserves but you can't beat first team action for regaining your sharpness as a player."

Wigan are short of defenders at present with ex-Norwich skipper Matt Jackson out with a dislocated knee, captain Arjan De Zeeuw struggling with a hamstring strain while Jason De Vos is captain of the Canadian side who are about to compete in the Gold Cup in America.
