Frank Wants to Be Town's Man on the Spot - Ipswich Town News

With the job of Town penalty-taker up for grabs while top scorer David McGoldrick is absent through injury, Frank Nouble has confidently submitted his application for the role.

In the two games 16-goal McGoldrick has missed since picking up a knee ligament injury Town have not been awarded a spotkick but when they are Nouble has declared he is willing to take on board the extra responsibility.

And how about this for impressive credentials? Nouble has a 100 hundred per cent record from the spot, although he is quick to point out: "I’ve only ever taken one, when I was on loan at Gillingham, and I scored. If I get the job I’ll be happy to take them.

"There’s been no discussion about who will take them and it will obviously be up to the manager to decide. We do it in training and he knows who is comfortable taking them but I would fancy it.”

Meanwhile, Nouble has declared himself impressed with the contribution of fellow striker Paul Taylor in last week’s home win over Birmingham City, which marked only the £1.5 million former Peterborough player’s third league start of the current campaign.

Manager Mick McCarthy confirmed on Thursday that Taylor will definitely start this weekend’s game at Middlesbrough and Nouble said: "Tayls played well and I was really pleased for him. He has been training well, deserved his chance and he took it really well.

"I think the whole team did well and it was good to get a home win after we drew the previous one against Blackpool. There are a lot of important games coming up and we need as many players as possible to be at their best.”
