Williams Up For Extending Town Stay - Ipswich Town News

Midfielder Jonny Williams says he’s enjoying his loan spell with the Blues and if he’s not going to be playing for parent club Crystal Palace would like to extend his stay beyond the end of the month when it is currently due to expire.

"It has gone really quickly actually," Williams told the Croydon Advertiser. "I would need to speak to Mick McCarthy and Tony Pulis moving forward to see what we should do or whether I'll stay until the end to play more at Ipswich.

"I don't know really yet but I'll be speaking to both managers. If I am not going to be playing at Palace, it would be good to keep playing elsewhere.

"I have enjoyed my experience so far and I got man of the match on my home debut. That's the number one thing — I need to play as a footballer. If I can have that, I'm enjoying it."

Williams is looking forward to Saturday’s trip to take on the Eagles’ big rivals — and last season’s play-off semi-final opponents — Brighton and wouldn’t be surprised if he’s on the end of a few boos.

"I am not sure but I imagine so - it's one of those things with the rivalry between the two teams and the play-offs last year,” he added. "But once the whistle goes, I hopefully won't notice it.

"It will definitely be a feel-good factor in the away dressing room at the Amex. Every time I have been there, there have been more-or-less good memories, especially before the play-off final.

"I also made my first league start there. The only bad time was losing 3-0 last year but that got erased in my memory after what happened in the play-offs.

"It's a great stadium and pitch though, so I look forward to playing there again. I imagine if I were to score on Saturday, that would make the Palace fans happy."
