Town midfielder Paul Anderson may have sympathy for former club Nottingham Forest but he is determined to add to their recent misery when they come to Portman Road this weekend.
Forest, just one goal better off than Town in seventh, have failed to win any of their last eight league games, collecting a paltry three points from a possible 24.
Anderson said: "Their form is a big surprise. They have spent a lot of money but there’s been a lot of change and it’s not easy. When there’s change around it’s never easy to gel as quickly as you might hope.
"They have also had a lot of injuries to their main players and while people say you can’t blame injuries I think they have a full eleven who could play as the first team and they are all ruled out.
"We’ve had David McGoldrick ruled out for the season and we all know what a big loss that is but they have had six or seven ‘David McGoldricks’ disappear out of the team.
"At one stage they looked to be in with a chance of automatic promotion — they weren’t far off Burnley and it seemed that anyone from them, QPR and Derby might have taken the second spot.
"I’m disappointed for them but they have a big enough squad that should be capable of putting a half-decent run together to keep them within the play-offs.
"We’ll just be looking at ourselves and we’ll be going into the game thinking that we’ll win and hopefully go into the top six, although we might still be hovering just outside.”
Anderson revealed he had a good working relationship with Billy Davies, who was sacked by Forest following their 5-0 thumping at Derby last weekend, during the manager’s first period in charge.
He said: "I don’t have any bad words to say about the man. He gave me a great opportunity and we had two very successful years with him, getting into the play-offs.
"I can’t complain about my time with him but everyone has different opinions about people. For me he is one of the best managers I’ve worked under and I’m fortunate to have had that time with him.
"But as much as I loved my time at Forest I don’t have any ties there any more. They have nothing to do with me. I’m Ipswich player now and this is probably the most I’ve ever enjoyed my football.
"It’s the best environment I’ve ever been in and we’re desperate to be the team that makes the play-offs. At the end of the day, if it’s at the expense of Nottingham Forest then so be it.”
