Pulis Will Make Williams Decision Today - Ipswich Town News
Crystal Palace manager Tony Pulis says he will decide today whether to extend Jonny Williams’s loan at Portman Road. The 20-year-old Wales international’s initial month with the Blues ends today.
Pulis, whose side beat Chelsea 1-0 on Saturday, says the fitness of strikers Marouane Chamakh and Dwight Gayle, who have been out with hamstring and ankle problems respectively, will come into his thinking.
"I'll speak to Mick [McCarthy]. Cham and Gayley might be fit for this weekend,” he told the South London Press.
"If they weren't fit it might've been that I called Jonny back. He needs to play some football. I'll be looking at the situation today and then take a view today."
That appears to suggest that the Eagles boss will extend Williams's loan if Chamakh and Gayle are fit. He would then be able to cut short the midfielder's spell at a later date if he was required at Selhurst Park with a 24-hour recall provision available after the first 28 days of emergency loan deals.
Pulis was at Portman Road on Tuesday to see Williams - who has made four starts and two sub appearances for the Blues - score in Town's 2-1 victory over Derby.
Speaking on Saturday, Blues boss McCarthy was less than confident that Williams would remain at Portman Road.
Meanwhile, Town's U21s are in action against Bristol City at Ashton Gate this afternoon (KO 2pm).
