Academy Showcase at Portman Road - Ipswich Town News

There’s a chance to catch some of the Town stars of the future in action on Wednesday night when Portman Road stages the annual Academy Showcase game with a Blues U15s side taking on their Tottenham counterparts (KO 7pm).

Amongst those involved will be Andre Dozzell, the son of former Town midfielder Jason, and Daniel Muamba, the younger brother of ex-Arsenal and Bolton man Fabrice.

Last season’s game, also played at U15 level against the North Londoners, ended in a 2-2 draw before the visitors won a penalty shoot-out 4-2.

Academy director Bryan Klug told the club site: "We have been fortunate down the years to have Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham agree to come down here and play games against our Academy sides.

"It says something about us though as a club and the name we have in the game that these clubs agree to play us here. They know we will treat the game the right way and try and put on a good football match.

"Tottenham are one of the best academies in the country so we know our boys will face some quality competition.

"It’s not all about the result on the night though, it’s about giving the young players a chance to play on the main pitch at Portman Road. It gives them a chance to play in front of a crowd, in a different environment to what they are used to.

"It gives them a taste of what first-team football is about as well, but for us the most important aspect is that it’s another stage in their development.”

Tickets are available on the night or online at ITFC Direct priced at £5 for adults, £3 for seniors, students and under-20s and £1 for under-16s with seats unreserved in the middle and lower tiers of the East of England Co-op Stand.
