Town Set For Gillingham Trip - Ipswich Town News

Town are set to play Gillingham in a friendly at the Priestfield Stadium during pre-season. The game is expected to be played on Saturday 26th July but is yet to be confirmed.

Gills boss Peter Taylor, who has signed a two-year contract with the League One club, told the Kent Messenger: "I imagine Elliott Hewitt [who has been on loan at Gillingham] will be playing and I think Ipswich is a really good friendly. I know they played them last year but to play Ipswich, it’s a good game.”

Last summer goals from David McGoldrick and David October saw the Blues to a 2-1 victory with ex-Canary Cody McDonald netting for the home side.

Town start their pre-season fixtures with a game against Shelbourne at Tolka Park, Dublin on Saturday 12th July, while they travel to Colchester United on Wednesday 23rd July.
