Crowe in Wales U19 Squad - Ipswich Town News

Town keeper Michael Crowe has been named in the Wales U19 squad for their Euro 2014 elite qualifying group games in Portugal.

The Welsh youngsters, who are coached by ex-Blues midfielder Geraint Williams, take on Belgium on Wednesday 28th May, the hosts two days later and finally Greece on Monday 2nd June. The winners of the group go through to this summer’s finals in Hungary.

Wales qualified for the elite stage of qualifying after a remarkable seven-goal turnaround in the final round of matches in the previous group games in November when they thrashed Moldova 6-0 and hosts Georgia beat Holland 2-1.

London-born Crowe, whose father is English and mother Norwegian, joined the Blues in the summer of 2012 from Kristiansand-based side IK Start, having been brought up in Norway. He qualifies for Wales through his grandmother.

The 18-year-old, a second-year academy scholar during 2013/14, signed a two-year professional contract in September and has been on the first team bench on a couple of occasions, most recently at Watford.

Wales U19s: Billy O'Brien - Manchester City, Michael Crowe - Ipswich Town, Gethin Jones - Everton, Josh Yorwerth - Cardiff City, Thomas James - Cardiff City, Dominic Smith - Shrewsbury Town, Declan John - Cardiff City, Harry Wilson - Liverpool, Rob Evans - Wrexham, Josh Sheehan - Swansea City, Tom O'Sullivan - Cardiff City, Jordan Evans - Fulham, Declan Weeks - Wolverhampton Wanderers, George Williams - Fulham, Alex Bray - Swansea City, Bradley Reid - Wolverhampton Wanderers, Owain Jones - Swansea City, Ryan Hedges - Swansea City.
