Town Norway Link - Ipswich Town News
Town are reported to have had a scout watching the Vale do Tejo four-team tournament currently being played in Portugal. Norwegian sources say that a Town scout, likely to be Simon Hunt, was present at the Norway and Romania game yesterday. The match ended 2-2 with Norway winning 4-1 on penalties.
Town's target is claimed to be former Norwegian U21 midfielder Espen Søgåd, although also on display was previously rumoured Town target Thorstein Helstad.
Søgåd is 22 and plays for Lillestrøm SK in Norway while Helstad is a 24-year-old winger or striker who was linked with a move to Portman Road last summer. Helstad plays for Brann Bergen and has also interested other Premiership clubs.
Søgåd has also played in defence and was previously with Fet IL. Helstad is another former Norwgian U21 international who started his career at Hamar-Kameratene. He finished last season with 17 goals making him Brann's joint highest scorer.
