Crowe in Wales Action - Ipswich Town News
Town keeper Michael Crowe and the Wales U19s face hosts Portugal in the second game of their Euro 2014 elite qualifying group in Matosinhos this evening.
The Welsh youngsters, who are coached by ex-Blues midfielder Geraint Williams, drew 1-1 with Belgium in their opening game on Wednesday, while the Portuguese beat Greece 3-0.
Wales take on the Greeks in their final match on Monday. The winners of the group go through to this summer’s finals in Hungary.
London-born Crowe, whose father is English and mother Norwegian, joined the Blues in the summer of 2012 from Kristiansand-based side IK Start, having been brought up in Norway. He qualifies for Wales through his grandmother.
The 18-year-old, a second-year academy scholar during 2013/14, signed a two-year professional contract in September and has been on the first team bench on a couple of occasions, most recently at Watford.
Meanwhile, Rotherham United are reportedly set to hold talks with out of contract former Yeovil defender Byron Webster, who was watched by the Blues towards the end of 2013/14 and is also believed to have been interesting Leeds and Millwall.
Elsewhere, former Town boss Roy Keane has held informal talks with Celtic majority shareholder Dermot Desmond about the vacant manager’s position at Parkhead. Keane, a former Bhoys player, is currently Republic of Ireland boss Martin O’Neill’s assistant.
