Willbye Tops Goal of the Season Poll - Ipswich Town News
Academy midfielder Jack Willbye’s 45-yard stunner during Town’s FA Youth Cup tie with Sunderland topped the voting for the 2013/14 League Football Education Goal of the Season award.
Second-year scholar Willbye's goal received 2,016 votes, 29.06 per cent of the poll with Middlesbrough’s Bradley Fewster finishing second more than 200 votes behind with voting ending this lunchtime.
Willbye’s strike put the Blues in front during the first half of the match but the Black Cats equalised after the break and eventually went on to win 4-2 on penalties.
The goal previously won the LFE's Goal of the Month award for December. The Blues have offered the 18-year-old midfielder an additional year on his academy scholarship.
