McCarthy Prepared to Wait on Loans - Ipswich Town News

Boss Mick McCarthy expects to have to wait until late in the summer before Premier League youngsters are made available for loan. As was the case last year, Town’s summer business is likely to centre around the Bosman and loan markets.

"The players that will be involved in the World Cup will need a break so Premier League clubs will take all their best youngsters with them on tour and keep them through pre-season,” McCarthy explained to the club site.

"They will look at their young players and see if they are good enough to be involved next season, or whether they will benefit from going out on loan.

"There are definitely loan deals to be had with Premier League clubs and I don’t want to miss out on some of the good, exciting talent that could be available.

"Look at Jonny Williams and the impact he made here last season. How good would that be for us if we could get in a player of that standard on loan here?”

"It’s something that we are looking at and working towards, but it may require a bit of patience.”

The summer has got off to a quiet start with Town's only additions so far the signings of youngsters Darren McQueen and Ben Wyatt following their release by Tottenham and Norwich respectively.
