Rotherham Confirm Green Deal - Ipswich Town News

Championship new boys Rotherham United have confirmed that former Blues loanee Paul Green will be joining them on a two-year deal after his release by Leeds.

Following the Irish international’s spell at Portman Road at the end of last season, Town boss Mick McCarthy said he would weigh-up whether to offer the 31-year-old a permanent contract over the summer, but no deal was forthcoming and he has now joined ex-Blues keeper Scott Loach and fellow former Blues loanee Frazer Richardson at the New York Stadium.

Millers manager Steve Evans told his club’s official site: "We are delighted to have signed Paul after several chats with his representatives.

"The lad had a magnificent finish to the season with Ipswich Town, so it wasn’t a surprise to find there was significant interest in him, so we are very pleased to add him to our squad.

"I think the lure of Championship football, knowing what we are about as a football club and our magnificent stadium all helped to convince him that this was the club for him.

"Paul is a full international, he has just returned from an end of season trip with Martin O’Neill’s Republic of Ireland, so he will be given a few more days to recuperate.

"He has been down here today to finalise the deal and have his medical but he won’t officially begin work with us until Monday next week.”

Green made six starts and eight substitute appearances while with Town, scoring two goals.

Elsewhere, newly-promoted Leicester have been linked with winger Cameron Stewart, who the Blues and Charlton are understood to be eyeing with his permanent switch to Leeds collapsing. The 23-year-old is a free agent with his contract at Hull up this summer.

Meanwhile, former Blue Andy Drury has rejoined his former club Luton from Town's Capital One Cup opponents Crawley for a fee of £100,000, signing a two-year deal.
