Finidi in Action - Ipswich Town News
Finidi George will be in action for Nigeria this evening as they take on Liberia in their final African Nations' Cup group game in Mopti, Mali. The Nigerians are top of their group after a 1-0 win over Algeria and a 0-0 draw with Mali.
It has been a different Finidi we have seen in Mali with him playing a combative central midfield role.
Liberia against Nigeria is a bit of a grudge game with Nigeria winning the last time the two sides met in a crucial World Cup qualifier against the Liberians in the summer. Prior to that Liberia won the other World Cup qualifier between the two sides.
Liberia's main man George Weah believes his side is the better of the two: "We know it is not going to be easy but we must do everything because it is our last chance. We always have the team to confront Nigeria. We did it in the World Cup and I think we can do it again because I don't think Nigeria has a better team than ours. They have a good team but we have a good team too. We can confront Nigeria and do everything that they do."
The game is live on Eurosport at 6pm with highlights on BBC2 at 11.20pm.
