Parr to Meet Town on Monday - Updated - Ipswich Town News

Town are targeting former Crystal Palace left-back Jonathan Parr as Aaron Cresswell’s replacement and he will meet with the Blues on Monday, according to his father who is also his advisor.

Roger Parr told Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten that there is a "big chance” that the 25-year-old will join the Blues following his release by the Eagles: "We travel there to have a meeting with the club on Monday."

Parr senior continued: "At Ipswich he will be first choice. Jonathan had a meeting with the manager and had a good conversation with him, and Jonathan knows the captain. It is important to have some relationships in place.”

He added: "We know there is a very good club, which has a nice stadium and good crowd. There are also important. Everything looks very positive.”

Former Lyn and Aalesund man Parr, who had initially hoped to stay in the Premier League, has also been interesting Bolton and clubs elsewhere in Europe but Town are his preferred choice. Terms have been agreed but the player is yet to confirm his decision.

Bolton's interest appears to be at an end, the Trotters having signed another former Crystal Palace left-back, Dean Moxey, yesterday.

Oslo-born Parr, who is 6ft tall, has won Norwegian caps at U17, U19, U21 and senior levels.

He made 82 starts and 19 sub appearances for Palace, scoring two goals. Town fans may remember him best for having been stretchered off with an ankle injury during the Blues' 3-0 victory over the Eagles at Portman Road in April 2013 following a solid but fair Richard Stearman challenge.

The Blues squad will be travelling to Ireland on Sunday ahead of their week-long training camp at the Carton House hotel in Co Kildare.
