Town are reported to have shown interest in former loan keeper Stephen Henderson, who has another year left on his contract at West Ham.
According to well-connected West Ham site ClaretandHugh, the Blues made their interest in the 26-year-old known during last week’s talks regarding Aaron Cresswell’s switch to the Hammers with manager Mick McCarthy a big fan of the Irishman.
The sticking point scuppering a potential move is believed to have been Town’s unwillingness to pay more than a quarter of the ex-Portsmouth man’s £20,000-a-week wage.
Meanwhile, the Blues were continuing to pursue their interest in another long-time target, Notts County’s Bartosz Bialkowski, with negotiations regarding that deal understood to still be ongoing.
Henderson, who was initially a Town target during his Pompey days, made 24 appearances for the Blues during two loan spells during the 2012/13 campaign. A possible loan move to Blackburn is reported to have broken down.
