Town XI at Braintree - Ipswich Town News

A Blues XI will be in friendly action against Skrill Premier side Braintree Town at Cressing Road on Tuesday, 22nd July (KO 7.45pm).

The game is a second testimonial for long-serving Iron Brad Quinton, who has been forced to retire after 546 appearances for the Essex club.

It's likely to be very much a second string Blues side in action with the first-team friendly at Colchester United the following evening (KO 7.30pm).

Town were last at Braintree for a friendly in the summer of 2012 when a goal from Nathan Ellington was the difference between the sides.

The Blues were also the opponents in Quinton's first testimonial back in 2008 when Dean Bowditch (pen) and Jordan Rhodes saw Town to a 2-0 victory.

On Friday, the U18s get their pre-season fixtures underway with their traditional game away against Southwold on the Common, kick-off 6.30pm. You can find a list of all Town’s pre-season friendlies http://www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town-news/25210>here.
