Town in Action at Colchester - Ipswich Town News

Town continue their pre-season programme when they take on Colchester United at the Weston Homes Community Stadium this evening (KO 7.30pm).

Manager Mick McCarthy, whose side has beaten Shelbourne 4-0 and drawn 0-0 with West Ham in their previous friendlies, is again likely to field a large number of his squad with only a handful of fringe players and trialists in action at Braintree last night.

Trialists could again be included in this evening's travelling party with Hungarian striker Bálint Bajner not having been played at Cressing Road. Leroy Lita may be involved again at some stage having been withdrawn at half-time against the Skrill Premier side having scored the game's only goal.

Ex-U’s midfielder Anthony Wordsworth is likely to be back in the Town squad after missing the West Ham game with a minor injury, but the game is likely to come too soon for striker David McGoldrick as he continues his rehab after his knee problems.

The U’s are expected to field ex-Blues Tom Eastman and David Wright, as well as recent signings Sean Clohessy, Dan Holman, Ben Gordon and Chris Lewington, but Marcus Bean and Sanchez Watt are out with knee problems and Jabo Ibehre, due to a groin injury.

Tickets are available to Town fans on the gate at £15 for adults, £12 for 18 to 21-year-olds, £10 for seniors and under-18s, and £2 for under-eights.

Colchester still have a few parking spaces at the ground but advise arriving early, while details of their shuttle bus service can be found here. You can find a list of Town's other pre-season games here.
