Rare FA Cup Programme Up for Auction - Ipswich Town News
An extremely rare 1936 Ipswich Town FA Cup programme from a home tie against Eastern Counties United will come up for sale at Martlesham auctioneers Lockdales over the weekend September 13th and 14th.
The September 19th 1936 FA Cup preliminary round tie against ECU saw the Blues win 7-0 against the Lowestoft-based club.
A crowd of 6,700 saw Jack Blackwell score a hat-trick and George Dobson grab two, while Bobby Bruce and Jack Carter were also on target.
"This is an unusual programme from a season that saw Town compete as a professional outfit for the first time in the Southern League,” said auction manager James Sadler.
"Mick O’Brien was the manager, and he led the club to the league title, beating Norwich City reserves into second place.”
There is a catalogue guide price of £80-£85, but the final figure is likely to go well into three figures.
