Town XI in Action at AFC Sudbury - Ipswich Town News

A young Town XI is in friendly action away against Ryman North side AFC Sudbury at their Wardale Williams Stadium this evening (KO 7.45pm).

The side will essentially be an U21 team, probably including summer signings Darren McQueen (pictured), who has scored regularly throughout pre-season, and Ben Wyatt, as well as the likes of Byron Lawrence, Michael Crowe and Teddy Bishop. Admission is £5 and £3, with children under 14 admitted free.

Meanwhile, this season's U21s fixtures have been announced with Mark Kennedy’s side starting their campaign with a home game against Swansea on Monday 25th August (KO 1pm).

Town’s U21 team remains in the Professional Development League 2 South, the academy having failed to attain category one status.

They will play each team in South division twice and the sides in the North division once, a total of 27 matches. As last year, they will not take part in the Suffolk Premier Cup.

Elsewhere, Town’s U18s face Norwich in a friendly at Playford Road on Saturday morning (KO 11am).
