First Ever Derby Down Under - Ipswich Town News

Saturday sees the inaugural staging of the Derby Down Under played between the Australasian Branch of the ITFC Supporters Club and their Norwich City counterparts, Canaries Down Under.

Ed Parker, chairman of the Australasian Branch, told TWTD: "There has been a brilliant response so far to Saturday’s clash.

"Both sides expect to field full teams with enough subs to give the oldies and unfit amongst us a bit of a break.

"The game will kick off at 2.30pm and will take place in Centennial Park, Sydney where we have a pitch booked.

"We will be playing for local pride before heading off to enjoy a meal, some banter and a few beers before settling down to watch the Fulham game live at the GT Hotel in Central.

"If anyone is interested in coming along either to play or to support then please let me know.”

He added: "One important aspect of the event is to help raise awareness and some funds for our chosen causes. We have chosen the George Woodward Fund being local to Ipswich. Find out more or donate here.”

For more details about the Derby Down Under, contact Ed by email or call +61 400 236 099.

While Ed and the Australian Blues and Canaries will be watching in Sydney, Town fans are meeting up to watch Saturday’s game against Fulham in venues across the country and around the globe.
