Town in for Garba? - Ipswich Town News
Town are being linked with Roda JC midfielder Garba Lawal. The left-sided player is coming to the end of his five-year contract, and it will not be renewed with his current club's sporting director Nol Hendrick having said that he can't be relied on due to his international commitments.
The Nigerian, who lines up on the opposite flank to Finidi George, has been put on the transfer list in the hope that a fee can be arranged before the end of his contract that expires in the summer.
According to his agent, Town - as well as Derby - are interested in the winger, although that seems unlikely to be the case as Martijn Reuser, Jamie Clapham and recent signing Ulrich Le Pen are already battling for that position.
Whether George Burley would take another Nigerian international is debatable with the Blues losing Finidi for a month for the Africa Nations Cup.
Town do not have a scout at the games in Mali, but as Lawal plays in Holland, the Blues' European scout Romeo Zondervan is bound to have seen him on his travels.
