Dozzell Skippers England - Ipswich Town News
Academy schoolboy Andre Dozzell skippered England’s U16s for the first hour of a 4-3 friendly defeat to Belgium at St George’s Park this afternoon.
The match was played over four periods of 30 minutes to allow each side to give all their players an hour’s action. Head coach Dan Micciche switched his entire XI after the first two quarters with his side 2-0 in front.
Dozzell, 15, evidently caught the eye during the time he was on the field with The FA’s website reporting: ”Captain Andre Dozzell, son of former Ipswich and Tottenham midfielder Jason, [was] in impressive form in the heart of the England midfield.”
Chelsea’s Martell Crossdale netted two of England’s goals with Dan N'Lundalu of Southampton grabbing the other.
The players who impressed coach Micciche during today’s game and the coaching sessions earlier in the week are likely to win places in the squad for this autumn’s Victory Shield games which will be shown live on Sky.
