Town striker Frank Nouble has joined League One Coventry City on a half-season loan in a late unexpected deadline day deal. The 22-year-old, who had been made available by boss Mick McCarthy, will be with the Sky Blues until January 4th.
The switch was completed shortly before the transfer window closed at 11pm.
"I spoke to Frank a week or two back and told him that he was free to look elsewhere for his football, either on loan or on a permanent move,” McCarthy told the club site.
"He’s worked hard for us but we’ve got four strikers now and he’s seen other players come in.
"He wants to play games. That's what he needs, to be playing on a Saturday afternoon.”
Coventry boss Steven Pressley told their official site: "What you get with Frank is a quick, mobile, powerful striker and that is exactly what we are looking for.
"I spoke to Frank about what he wants out of a move to Coventry City and his ambition certainly aligns with my expectations and I'm looking forward to seeing the positive impact I believe his addition will bring.
"I'm certainly excited to see what he is capable of and now we find ourselves in a situation where we have a number of strikers all eager to claim a starting place in front of more than 20,000 City supporters at the Ricoh Arena on Friday [against Gillingham].”
Nouble, whose Town contract is up at the end of the season, added on Twitter: "Can't wait to get going on my loan at Coventry."
Meanwhile, according to the Daily Mail Town were asking £11 million for David McGoldrick from interested parties on deadline day and turned down £2.5 million plus Jonny Williams on loan until January from Crystal Palace for left-back Tyrone Mings.
