Murphy Wins Cap - Ipswich Town News
Striker Daryl Murphy won his 12th full cap as an 85th minute sub as the Republic of Ireland beat Oman 2-0 in a friendly in Dublin this evening. Kevin Doyle and Alex Pearce netted the Irish goals.
Ireland next play Georgia in Tbilisi in their opening Euro 2016 qualifying game on Sunday.
Loanee Blues striker Conor Sammon was included in the provisional 36-man squad, but was left out of the reduced 27-man party, however, the Dubliner remains on standby. Ex-Blue Jon Walters is in the reduced squad but wasn’t involved this evening.
"Right-back Elliott Hewitt, 20, is with Geraint Williams’s Welsh U21s, who face Finland in Turku on Friday and then Lithuania in Alytus next Tuesday in their final Euro 2015 qualifiers.
Wales are currently fourth in their group and out of running for qualification. Hewitt has previously won nine U21 caps.
Christophe Berra has been withdrawn from the Scotland squad facing Germany in their opening Euro 2016 qualifier on Sunday, due to a knee injury.
