Bishop Keeping His Feet on the Ground - Ipswich Town News

Midfielder Teddy Bishop says he’s keeping his feet firmly on the ground, despite having made his full debut in last Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Derby. The 18-year-old, who made his first senior appearance as a sub in the Capital One Cup tie at Crawley, impressed before being replaced in the 67th minute.

"It was good to be involved at Derby and I felt I did OK," the first-year pro told the club site. "Once the first 20 minutes or so went by and I managed to get a few touches, I felt more at ease.

"Obviously Derby are a very good side but I thought we more than matched them and on another day we could have taken all three points.

"On a personal level it was fantastic to feature but it’s massively important that I keep my feet on the ground and I can’t go round thinking that I’ve made it.

"The hard work starts here and whilst it’s nice to have been involved in the first team, I know there is a long way to go yet and it’s up to me to keep progressing and try and show the manager what I can do.

"The manager and TC have been brilliant with me, as have all the lads and they have helped me and the younger lads such as Clarkey and Darren McQueen feel part of the group.”

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock wants to give Blues target Jonny Williams a chance to prove himself at Selhurst Park and isn’t keen on sending him out on loan, according to reports in South London.

Williams, who is understood to have been offered to Town on a half-season loan as part of Monday's proposed £2.5 million deal for Tyrone Mings, is pleased that Warnock has returned to the Eagles.

"I was 15 when the gaffer was last here, just getting a chance in and around the reserves,” Wales international Williams told the Croydon Advertiser.

"I remember speaking to him a few times as a kid, and that was big for me back then. He’s a hero to you at the age of 14-15 and it’s weird to have him back and be in the squad with him.

"We’ve had a few managers through the door in the last few years but the manager knows the place, know the people and that can only bring good things.”
