McCarthy Not Thinking About Williams Too Often - Ipswich Town News

Boss Mick McCarthy says he’s not spending too much time wondering whether Jonny Williams will be made available for loan. The 20-year-old Crystal Palace midfielder spent a highly successful spell with the Blues towards the end of last season.

The Blues are understood to be amongst three or four Championship clubs to have made their interest known, but with Palace currently keen to hold onto him.

Asked what his gut feeling was regarding the likelihood that Williams would be made available for loan, he said: "I haven’t got a gut feeling, I don’t think about him too often. That’s because we’re doing OK. There’s no point in me spending too much time on it.

"Everybody knows what would happen if somebody were to say we could have him on loan - I’d take him. Everybody knows that, and by the way so would 23 other Championship clubs, they’d be no different.

"I’m not telling you anything different than I have all along, but he was a sub and he got on on Saturday and so he’s part of their plans.”

Palace manager Neil Warnock, who brought Williams on in the 75th minute of the Eagles’ 0-0 draw with Burnley, has reiterated that he has no immediate plans to send the Wales international out on loan: "I don't want Jonny to go until I've had a good look at him.”
