Legend Butcher Presents Cheque to Baby Unit - Ipswich Town News

Former Town and England captain Terry Butcher presented a cheque for £1,150 to the Colchester Special Care Baby Unit on Friday, funds raised by Blues fan Graeme Brooke’s recent book Adventures of a Tractor Boy.

The book is Graeme’s tales from his many years following the Blues and has sold more than 600 copies so far.

He is donating 100 per cent of the profits to the Special Care Baby Unit, who nursed his daughter Leah, now thankfully a healthy eight-year-old season ticket holder and Junior Blue, when she was born eight weeks premature.

Graeme has set up a website and has asked readers to email photos of the book from around the world. So far he has received more than 90 with many more promised.

Butcher, who was pictured on the front cover of the book at a pre-season friendly in Ludvika, Sweden in 1984, said: "It is great that Graeme has been able to raise much needed money for a great charity as a result of his devotion in following Ipswich Town.

"The book is a great read and for a fantastic cause and will hopefully sell many more copies.

"I love the idea of people sending a photo of the book from around the globe into the website to help raise awareness of the book and the charity."

The book is available from Amazon and is also on sale at Planet Blue, The Bull at Brantham or Greetings and Gifts in Manningtree.

Graeme will be one of the guests on this lunchtime's Life's a Pitch on Radio Suffolk (12-2pm).
