Town boss Mick McCarthy has been nominated for the September Manager of the Month award, while left-back Tyrone Mings is on the shortlist for the Player of the Month gong.
Neither nomination comes as much of a surprise with the Blues having taken 13 points from 15 during September and Mings having been an outstanding performer throughout that run.
McCarthy is up against Charlton’s Bob Peeters, Steve McClaren of Derby and Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka, while Blackburn’s Ben Marshall, Blackpool keeper Joe Lewis and Norwich frontman Cameron Jerome are Mings’s rivals. The winners of both awards will be announced on Friday morning.
If McCarthy wins he'll become the first Town boss to carry off the Manager of the Month award since Joe Royle in November 2004.
The current Town boss, who while with Sunderland was coincidentally amongst the nominees to lose out to Royle, has picked up the award three times with his previous clubs, once with Wearsiders and twice with Wolves, most recently in November 2008.
David McGoldrick was the last Town man to win the Player of the Month award, in October 2013.
