U18s at Coventry - Ipswich Town News

Town’s U18s are in action away against Coventry City on Saturday afternoon (KO noon).

The young Blues dropped to third in the Professional Development League Two South table following last week’s 2-1 home defeat to Birmingham, although with a game in hand on the sides above them, while Coventry currently top the North division, despite losing 5-3 at Millwall last week, their first defeat of the campaign.

Sky Blues U18s coach Jason Farndon told his club site that he is expecting a tough match against Town.

"Ipswich have started the season really well,” he said. "They’ll be a strong side as they recruited during the summer looking to be a Category One academy but they didn't quite get there.

"They brought [in] a lot of players and have quite a few internationals so they will present a real challenge to us.

"It is important we get a reaction. We've looked back through the Millwall game and talked about our character and our commitment.

"In possession, we played well but it was out of possession and in defence where we weren't good enough. That needs to improve and I'll expect to see that at the weekend."
