Beware Blackburn — that is the warning from skipper Luke Chambers as Town prepare to welcome the men from Lancashire to Suffolk on Saturday.
Town are not short of confidence after staying unbeaten in seven games, a run that has taken them to sixth spot in the Championship, six places and four points better off than their mid-table opponents who have conceded ground as a result of taking just two points from their last three outings.
Chambers, 29, said: "Blackburn will be very dangerous this weekend. I think they have had a good start to the season and they have some very dangerous players. We can’t go into this game showing any disrespect to them because they have people who can hurt you.
"But, having said that, if we play our game and can get on top of them early on, as we have been doing especially at home, I don’t think they will be able to handle us. I can see it being a very even game and it’s one we are all looking forward to.”
Chambers pinpointed ex-Town striker Jordan Rhodes as an obvious danger man, even if the £12 million-rated marksman who scored 25 times last term has netted just four times in 11 games in the current campaign.
He explained: "The best way of dealing with him? Just don’t give him a chance. He did it at their place last season when he tucked one in the bottom corner and it made me think that there aren’t many players like him around at this level, players who get just the one chance and score after not doing much in the game.
"He guarantees goals and we’ll have a tough time with him. You can’t lose your concentration for a second. You’ve got him, you’ve got [Rudy] Gestede, who is a bit of an animal, and you’ve got [Luke] Varney, who has now come into the side.
"They have wide players who can deliver crosses and it’s a strong attacking team. But as long as we’re on the front foot I think we’re going to have a good game against them.”
Chambers would like nothing more than to score for the first time this season, adding: "I’m going up for set pieces a lot more this season.
"I scored a few in my first season here and I got three last season, but I’ll be looking to try and double that tally this season. As long as the deliveries are right I think we have players who can score from them.”
