Burley Praises Holland - Ipswich Town News

Town manager George Burley has praised his captain, Matt Holland after the former Bournemouth man passed the 200 consecutive League games mark recently. Holland's goalscoring performance at Everton at the weekend was his 201st League game in a row for the club.

Burley said of his skipper: "Matt Holland is simply buzzing. His strength has always been his tackling ability and his amazing stamina. He can be making a vital contribution in defence one minute and be on the end of a cross at the other end of the field the next. He has not missed a League match for us in four-and-a-half years. He has also played international football for the Republic of Ireland without getting much of a rest. It's been a difficult season for Matt, but he is in peak form at present. He is a tremendous player at his best and has a very important role for us in midfield.

The Town boss also praised the recent contribution from Sixto Peralta: "We always knew Sixto had loads of talent. In the past couple of months he has grown stronger and come on by leaps and bounds. He has a smashing attitude and his fitness level is very high. I am delighted with his progress."
