Town midfielder Jonny Williams fancies all four of the home nations’ chances of making it through to the final stages of Euro 2016.
Welsh international Williams, back at Portman Road for another loan spell from Crystal Palace, said: "I wouldn’t be surprised if all the home nations are in and around the qualifying places by the end of the campaign.
"Northern Ireland have three wins out of three so they can’t be doing any more at the moment and it would be fantastic if two, three or even all four of us made it into the finals. That would be great.”
Williams took his cap tally to seven in the recent goalless draw with Bosnia and Herzegovina and it would probably have been eight had an ankle injury not ruled him out of the home win over Cyprus a few days later.
But despite the disappointment of being absent from the Cyprus clash Williams added: "It was fantastic. I love going away with Wales and Chris Coleman is a great manager, while the boys are really bonding now. I think it’s time to believe because we’ve got seven points out of nine.
"We go to Belgium next and that will be a big, big game. We’ve done all we can so far and we drew with Bosnia and Herzegovina, who are a top team. It’s always great going away with Wales — I really enjoy it.”
The recent international get-together coincided with Williams’s 21st birthday and he was doubly surprised, first of all to receive a birthday cake and secondly that the world’s most expensive player, Gareth Bale, should demand a picture for social media purposes.
Williams laughed: "I didn’t expect that. I must admit it was a bit weird that he was asking me for a picture to put on social networking.
"That was a bit strange, even a bit surreal, because he’s a world star now. We should really treat him like a superstar but he’s so down to earth and humble, just how he was before.
"It’s great that we can all just get on with him as we always have done. He’s probably one of the most professional players I’ve ever seen or been involved with.
"It’s great to learn off someone like that by looking at what he does. He deserves everything he gets, to be fair, because he made a lot of sacrifices to get there. He’s a fantastic player and a great person.”
Williams said he was also thrilled when he departed Ipswich last season with a farewell gift from manager Mick McCarthy and his players — a signed shirt with his nickname Joniesta on the back.
It seemed his time was up but then-Palace boss Tony Pulis quickly agreed to extend his loan stay with Town and Williams recalled: "I got the shirt framed and it was a really nice touch but then I was heading back down the road a few days later to come back.”
