Bellamy's Son on Trial With Town - Ipswich Town News

Former Norwich striker Craig Bellamy’s 17-year-old son Ellis is currently on trial with the Town academy.

Ellis, a winger or striker, has been with Cardiff City’s youth set-up and has been capped at various levels by Wales up to U17.

Bellamy senior, a close friend of academy coach Kieron Dyer from their time at Newcastle and West Ham together, was spotted in Ipswich on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the academy have also taken 17-year-old Needham Market winger or forward Ace Howell on trial.

Howell, who was previously with the Town youth set-up as a schoolboy, has already broken into the first team with the Ryman League Division One North side, where Blues academy coach Steve Foley also works.

"He is a real talent in terms of his pace and his ability on the ball and I think he has a real chance,” Needham manager Mark Morsley told the Bury Free Press. "If Ipswich see that, we will be talking about a move.”

He added: "They are always watching the U18s. Steve has worked with him and said he was good but there has been a bit of interest from one or two other clubs, Norwich and Colchester, as well.”

Elsewhere, former Town assistant manager Willie Donachie has taken on the same role at Hartlepool United under new manager Paul Murray.
