Strikers in Ireland Squad - Ipswich Town News

Blues frontmen Daryl Murphy and Conor Sammon have been named in a provisional 36-man Republic of Ireland squad for next month’s Euro 2016 qualifier in Scotland and the home friendly with the USA.

Scotland host Ireland at Celtic Park on Friday 14th November, with the USA at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin four days later.

Ireland are currently second in Group D on seven points from three games behind leaders Poland on goal difference, with Scotland fourth on four behind third-placed Germany with everyone having played three games.

Murphy will be hoping to add to his 13 full caps and Sammon to his nine. The duo are both looking for their first international goals. Ex-Blues Damien Delaney and Jon Walters and former loanee Paul Green are also in the squad.

There is no place for Blues striker David McGoldrick, who is still waiting for the paperwork regarding his qualification to go through, although we understand it is now very close to completion.
