No Town International - Ipswich Town News

Town chairman David Sheepshanks has denied reports that the Blues could be set to host a full England international at Portman Road next year. The Town chairman was speaking on his return from the US where he watched the Superbowl.

Sheepshanks said: "There is no foundation to this story whatsoever. It is always a privilege to host an international occasion such as the England vs Germany Under-19 match on February 14th. Hopefully all will go well so that we may be considered for further events in due course, such as another England Under-21 match."

Sheepshanks was spotted in the crowd at Sunday's Superbowl held in New Orleans. The Town chairman has made several fact-finding trips to the States in recent years and has often cited the American 'match-day experience' as something that the club, and English football in general, could learn from. Previously he has attended ice hockey and baseball matches as well as gridiron.
