McDonnell in Irish U19 Squad - Ipswich Town News

Recent Town signing Adam McDonnell has been named in the Republic of Ireland squad for their UEFA U19 Championships qualifying tournament in Waterford and Wexford later this month.

Ireland take on Malta in their first match at Waterford’s RSC on Thursday 13th November, Gibraltar at Wexford’s Ferrycarrig Park on Saturday 15th November 15 and Switzerland on Tuesday 18th November, also in Waterford.

McDonnell, 17, joined the Blues on a two-year deal from Shelbourne close to the end of the transfer window following a trial in the summer.

The Dubliner, who has previously been capped at U16, U17 and Emerging Talent levels, is yet to appear in a competitive game for Town’s U18s or U21s as his clearance is still to come through but he has appeared in friendlies and has already trained with the first team and has impressed manager Mick McCarthy.

Republic of Ireland U19s: Liam Bossin (Anderlecht), Peter Burke (Sunderland), Noe Baba (Fulham), Kevin Toner (Aston Villa), Fiacre Kelleher (Celtic), Jamie Mulhall (Longford Town), Bobby Moseley (Birmingham City), Sean Heaney (Shamrock Rovers), Desmond Hutchinson (Brighton & Hove Albion), Adam McDonnell (Ipswich Town), Jamie McGrath (St Patrick’s Athletic), Connor Dimaio (Sheffield United), Henry Charsley (Everton), Joel Coustrain (Sheffield United), Reece Grego-Cox (QPR), Jack Hallahan (West Bromwich Albion), Ryan Manning (Galway FC), Eoghan Stokes (Leeds United).
