Crystal Palace were considering recalling loanee Jonny Williams before he suffered his injury in Saturday’s 1-0 home victory over Watford. The 21-year-old, who was yesterday withdrawn from the Wales squad for their Euro 2016 qualifier in Belgium, was on the end of a reckless Joel Ekstrand challenge just after the hour mark.
According to the South London Press, Eagles manager Neil Warnock had been weighing-up bringing Williams back to Selhurst Park ahead of their game with Liverpool following the international break.
Williams is currently expected to be out of action for around a month with what's now said to be a groin injury but saw a specialist and underwent a scan today which should give a better indication of how long he might be out.
"I’ve had a few injuries since I’ve been here and it’s been tough mentally and physically. It can grind you down,” Williams told the club site.
"I’ve not really been able to have a full week of training since I’ve been here because I’ve had to manage my fitness during the week.”
Regarding missing out on the Welsh match, he added "It’s always disappointing to miss out on games. It’s exciting times for Wales. It’s probably our best chance to qualify in a while,.
"We’ve had two wins and a draw against a good Bosnia side. All the home nations have started well and we will be looking to qualify.”
