McCarthy Delighted His Players Are the Talk of the Town - Ipswich Town News

Boss Mick McCarthy is delighted that his own players Tyrone Mings, David McGoldrick, Teddy Bishop and Daryl Murphy are currently the talk of the Town rather than just Premier League loanee Jonny Williams.

Left-back Mings continues to be linked with a host of Premier League sides, most notably Arsenal, after his impressive start to the season, while Murphy is joint-top scorer in the Championship on 10 goals and has this week been joined in the Irish squad by strike partner David McGoldrick.

Bishop, 18, is the latest academy product to break into the first team and is impressing top flight scouts in addition to Portman Road regulars.

Responding to praise for Mings’s performances, McCarthy said: "Isn’t it nice to have one that we’re talking about like that?

"Isn’t it nice that we’ve got David McGoldrick and Daryl Murphy that they’re talking about?

"And isn’t it nice that we’ve got Teddy Bishop that people are talking about? That’s what I like about a team, when you’ve got a number of them where people are saying ‘Wow, there’s a good player for you’.

"All right, Jonny Williams isn’t ours. Isn’t it nice that it’s not Jonny Williams that’s getting spoken about now, it’s Tyrone Mings, Teddy Bishop, it’s the two centre forwards.

"As much as I love Jonny Williams, he’s not going to be my player and is probably never, ever going to be my player, so it’s nice that it’s our players that are being spoken about. But when he plays I hope they’re all talking about him when he gets the goals!”
