Wenger Confirms Mings Interest - Ipswich Town News
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Blues left-back Tyrone Mings is amongst the young players he is keeping an eye on. The Gunners have repeatedly been linked with a January move for the 21-year-old, however, Wenger says his club isn’t close to completing any deals.
Arsenal have been regularly represented at Town’s games this season with chief scout Steve Rowley and colleague Pat Holland both having trips to Portman Road.
"We are following a few young players but we are not close to signing anybody,” Wenger said.
Questioned specifically about his interest in Mings, he added: "He is one of the young players we follow.”
In addition to Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle, Sunderland, Everton, Manchester United and Burnley are amongst those keeping tabs on Mings, who is contracted until the summer of 2017, while Crystal Palace had an offer of more than £3 million rebuffed in the summer.
The Blues - who have no immediate plans to make January sales - are understood to value Mings at more than £10 million.
