Town boss Mick McCarthy says he’s glad that the likes of Arsenal are keeping tabs on left-back Tyrone Mings. Earlier today, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger confirmed that the 21-year-old is one of a number of young players he has been watching this season.
Asked whether the Blues had received any offers or enquiries for Mings, McCarthy said: "If I had I wouldn’t tell you! I’d say no, so whether you believe me or not makes no odds.
"I’m glad that they’re looking at him, that’s great. I hope Chelsea are looking at Christophe and Man United are looking at Didzy and considering them because if that’s the case it means we’ve got good players.
"It’s what makes the world go round. We get players and if they’re really good players, somebody comes to look at them and big clubs buy them. It’s just the process for me. But they’re all under contract, so there’s nobody going anywhere.”
In addition to Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle, Sunderland, Everton, Manchester United and Burnley are amongst those keeping tabs on Mings, who is contracted until the summer of 2017, while Crystal Palace had an offer of more than £3 million rebuffed in the summer.
The Blues boss wouldn’t be drawn on what figure might tempt Town to sell: "36-24-36 was almost my favourite figure when Miss World used to be on. That was always the optimum, I thought, and that’s stuck with me all this time.”
Meanwhile, McCarthy confirmed that Luke Hyam will miss the Leeds game with the achilles injury which forced him out of the Charlton victory last week. The midfielder is likely to be back in action next week.
Kevin Bru and Teddy Bishop are both back from injuries and Christophe Berra from suspension.
