Hewitt to Extend Colchester Loan - Ipswich Town News

Blues full-back Elliott Hewitt is set to remain on loan at Colchester United for a third month.

The 20-year-old first joined the U’s in October and after briefly returning to Portman Road as cover while Jonny Parr was suffering with a groin problem, returned to the Weston Homes Community Stadium a month ago.

The Wales U21 international, whose Town contract is up next summer, has now made 10 starts for the League One side but was subbed at half-time during Saturday’s 4-1 home defeat to Rochdale.

"We’ve been pleased with Elliott,” U’s manager Tony Humes told the Colchester Gazette.

"He still has a lot of learning to do but he’s improving the defensive side of his game week by week.

"On Saturday, it was a case of making a change and it wasn’t detrimental to him - it was just something we needed to do.

"Playing Elliott a little bit more advanced is something that we’ve looked at. He’s a very attack-minded player and it’s something that we would consider.”
