Town have been given an additional allocation of 1,600 tickets for the FA Cup third round tie at Southampton on Sunday 4th January (KO 3pm). The Blues have sold all of the initial 3,100 provided by the Premier League club with the new tranche of tickets selling quickly.
Lee Hyde, Town’s director of retail operations, says the Saints have gone out of their way to provide the Blues with additional seats for the tie.
"Southampton, and in particular Michael Jolliffe, Saints’ ticket office manager, have been fantastic,” he told the club site.
"They’ve moved a number of conditions which are usually in place that can restrict a club’s reluctance to ‘gamble’ financially when taking the extra five per cent that away clubs are entitled to in the Cup.
"Southampton have also agreed to move around 1,200 season ticket holders to accommodate the increased allocation from Town.
"The team off the pitch are doing everything they can to increase the attendance for the game and it’s fairly obvious from our current sale levels that there will be huge following for Ipswich on the day.
"It’s great that sense has been seen all around, allowing for as many Town fans as possible to back the boys.”
The new tickets, which are on general sale and could sell out today, cost £10 for adults, £5 for concessions and £3 for juniors.
Town expect to fill 20 coaches for the game with spaces on coaches nine and 10 currently being sold.
Match or coach tickets are available from ITFC Direct or Planet Blue at Portman Road.
