Hewitt's Loan Extension Confirmed - Ipswich Town News

The extension of Elliott Hewitt’s loan spell with Colchester into a third month has been confirmed. The 20-year-old will now remain with the U’s until January 17th.

The Wales U21 international first joined Colchester in October and, after briefly returning to Portman Road as cover while Jonny Parr was suffering with a groin problem, returned to the Weston Homes Community Stadium a month ago.

Hewitt, whose Town contract is up next summer, has made 10 starts for the League One side.

Speaking earlier in the week, U’s boss Tony Humes said he was thinking about using the former Macclesfield man in midfield rather than playing him in his usual right-back role.

"Playing Elliott a little bit more advanced is something that we’ve looked at. He’s a very attack-minded player and it’s something that we would consider,” he said.
